Alison Hixon (b. 1992) is a Santa Fe-based artist recognized for her surreal mixed media watercolor paintings and recently featured in Vogue as an artist not to miss on Canyon Road. Her work explores themes of self-identity, emotional complexity, and the subconscious through distorted figures and dreamlike landscapes. Using muted tones and fluid lines, Hixon creates environments that reflect the interplay between inner and outer worlds, inviting viewers to confront the discomfort of the unfamiliar.
Born in Missouri and raised in Iowa, Hixon earned her BFA from Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She began her creative career in Chicago as an actor in theatre and film before transitioning to visual art as a way to process personal experiences.
Currently represented by Susan Eddings Perez Gallery in Santa Fe, Hixon continues to create work that examines the fluidity of existence and the emotional landscapes that shape us.
